CARB has implemented a ban on gas engine pressure washers

Are You Planning Ahead For Your Equipment needs?

You may still be using existing in-house gas equipment that is grandfathered into CARB policies (California Air Resources Board). But you should be planning and budgeting for replacement equipment.

Why?

Because CARB now regulates small off-road engines under 25 horsepower - including leaf blowers, mowers and pressure washers - and starting in 2024, has required new models to be zero-emissions.

  •  This effectively has banned the sale of new gas-powered, spark-ignition equipment, though existing equipment can still be used, and repaired – until it wears out.

CARB Parameters

CARB regulates sources of air pollution to protect public health and fight climate change, with a focus on reducing greenhouse gases, toxic air contaminants, and smog-forming emissions from mobile sources (vehicles, engines) and industrial sources.

As CARB continues to implement and expand these emissions-management policies, one of the challenges national manufactures that produce gas-powered machines are facing is compliance with the state's CARB regulations and supplies are becoming very limited.

New Technologies

Manufacturers are rising to this challenge and developing new technologies and cost-effective products that meet these requirements.

New smart technologies – Battery and electric-powered equipment technologies are rapidly evolving, and manufacturers are offering more equipment options in response to not only state regulations, but customer demand.

Cost-effective alternatives – As gas prices are forecasted to remain high, demand for battery and electric-powered pressure washers and floor care equipment are surging.
